In addition, the ICT Hub Joensuu project has created Eastern Finland’s largest and only festival-style business event — SOHJO. SOHJO has been energizing the region for three years, growing from an event of 35 participants to one attracting more than 600 attendees. By popular demand, SOHJO 2026 will be a two-day event combining technology, creativity, and brilliance as driving forces for our future. The Early Bird ticket campaign is still ongoing!

A major focal point for North Karelia’s ICT sector is digital border security. The theme has gained strong traction both in Finland and internationally — our region offers an authentic testing environment, from Arctic conditions to “natural” signal interference. On 1 October 2025, Business Joensuu Ltd launched its own EAKR-funded project focused on establishing a center of expertise and test environment for digital border security.
You’re warmly welcome to explore the theme of digital border security and the BORDERLAND initiative at the official SLUSH side event on 18 November 2025:

ICT Connection – Recognize – Articulate – Connect
The ICT Connection project helps companies and professionals find each other. The project uncovers hidden job opportunities, supports career development for job seekers, and strengthens employers’ branding and recruitment capabilities – to ensure that the right people and the right employers meet.
The project is carried out in cooperation between Business Joensuu Ltd and Software Finland. Business Joensuu supports companies in developing their employer capabilities through the Employer of the Future training program, while Software Finland helps women identify and articulate their skills through the online Technology Pathways training.
The ICT Connection project is funded by the European Union, the Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment of Central Finland (ELY Centre), and Business Joensuu Ltd. It is a subproject of the national Future Labour Markets coordination project and an important part of the initiative family promoting better matching in the labour market.
Expect the latest in ICT expertise — combined with North Karelian hospitality!
